'A Community for Singing

Singing for a Community'

Welcome to the website of Dayspring Community Choir based in the historic East Anglian market town of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.

The choir supports local charities. Our Christmas concert was in aid of Ormiston families and we were delighted to present them with a cheque for £2,000.00.

Why 'Community'?

The word ‘Community’ captures the choir’s very reason for being; it’s much more than just part of our name!  As our strapline, ‘A Community for Singing - Singing for a Community’ suggests, we look to build strong relationships within the choir giving us a firm base from which to impact our town of Bury St Edmunds.  Concert performances and making music in local care homes, market fetes and community events all have a part to play in outworking our vision. This vision is focussed not only on sharing the pleasure of music-making but also raising money for the various local charities and good causes listed on the About Us page.

Being part of Dayspring Community Choir is a great opportunity to:

Get to know new people

Have fun making music together

Sing a selection of lively part-songs

The choir is open to all - teenagers to seniors with no auditions or music reading required!

Members pay a small weekly fee to cover costs.

Moreton Hall Community Centre

July 2017

We meet every Monday night during term time 7.30 - 9.30pm at Christ Church Moreton Hall, Lawson Place (off Symonds Road) Bury St Edmunds IP32 7EW.

Half way through the evening we have a break which gives us a chance to catch up with other members, chat and, importantly, make new members feel welcome and part of the group. We are a friendly, inclusive bunch!

We are run on a 'not for profit' basis founded on Christian principles and run by a steering group who support the administration of the choir as well as planning concerts and performances.

Periodically, the choir enjoy professional vocal coaching from Katharina Megli, Musical Director of the Lucy Cavendish Singers based in Cambridge.
