Bury Christmas Fayre

November 26th 2016

This year we were on the stage outside the Apex and slightly earlier in the afternoon. We started in the light but finished as the evening light faded. We sang a selection of our songs including some lovely Christmassy ones! The audience were all wrapped up, busy looking at the stalls and buying hot chocolate but paused to listen to us. We drew a good crowd and received great applause.

Everyone enjoyed it. Another great occasion for the choir!!

The Season of Singing

Christmas Concert December 3rd 2016

What a great turnout for us all! We sang some new songs that the choir love to sing and some Christmassy ones that many had not heard before. A really good mix! Everyone looked very smart in their scarves and ties. This year we were recorded and can buy a professional recording of our singing.

All in aid of the Ormiston Trust who do tremendous work locally. Our thanks to those who supported us.

The choirʼs third year has been a hugely enjoyable twelve months with lots of opportunities to sing for our community. The choir visited local care homes, sang at the Bury St Edmundsʼ Christmas Fayre and performed carols at the Moreton Hall - Ember Inn (Thanks Liz and Conrad!). Two notable ʻfirstsʼ for the choir were singing at a wedding and a baptism and we had huge fun making a surprise appearance at Hawstead Church. That evening, we entertained the Southgate Church Ladiesʼ Group and, assembling in the churchyard and singing as we made our entrance, made it a very memorable occasion! The final event of the choirʼs year was performing on our ʻhome patchʼ at the Moreton Hall Family Fun Day where everyone at the Community Centre made us very welcome.

So, we are now setting our sights on the year ahead with our annual concert, The Season of Singing, and The Christmas Fayre and Carols at the Pub getting ever closer! A highlight of our 2017 programme will be a Cambridge performance where, for the first time, we join forces with the City Singers childrenʼs choir. It will certainly be a lively evening as two choirs give a modern twist to an old-time genre performing OʼCaseyʼs Amazing Hall. Details will follow in due course.
