In tandem with the activities of the main choir, we have Dayspring Community Mini Choir made up from the folk who are available to perform during the daytime. To outwork our vision of, 'Singing for a Community', Mini Choir is focussed on visiting care homes in the area and this is proving to be a rewarding part of the life of the choir. In November 2015 we sang for the residents of St. Peter's House in Bury St Edmunds and it was wonderful to see the therapeutic effect of music as we engaged with the audience.
The following appreciation came from Elaine Channen at St. Peter's House:
Today was very special thank you. Let me tell you about St. Peters. We are a 63 bedroomed residential Dementia Home. We have residents from early stages to end stages of dementia. Every moment of every day counts with us, every memory created is special, our foundations are built on love. A lot of our residents wander all through the day but today your music created a magical window and a calmness throughout the room. Some of our residents cannot engage in a conversation but as you see today the music brought them alive. I cannot thank you all enough for the gift of happiness that you gave us all today. I hope you will come back and sing for us again.
